The Coffee House is run by St Andrew’s Church Centre with the help of a team of volunteers. It was built in the early 1900s and has recently been refurbished with a modern twist. Our profits are reinvested into the local community, supporting families and individuals in need. We also send aid to our link parish, Maranyundo, in Rwanda.

Surf the web using our Free Wifi or even chat in French over a cup of coffee.

Enjoy the work of local artists and photographers, creating a stimulating environment.

Discover more about St Andrew’s Church, which runs a wide range of activities including family film showings, after-school clubs for children and lunches for older people. Speak to one of our volunteers, visit our Parish website or come and join us on Sunday mornings at 10.30am.

Low prices for high quality, freshly-ground coffee supplied by Winchester Coffee Roasters & a variety of our lovely home-made cakes and bakes.  Delicious food created and lovingly prepared by our chef, Mark.

More about the coffee we serve

Our main coffee is Rwanda Karengera, which is a Red Bourbon Arabica variety coffee and has a rich full body, is slightly acidic, and unusually distinct and complex. The processing the beans undergo in Rwanda is Rainforest Alliance Certified™, which means the farms and forests are managed according to rigorous environmental, social and economic criteria designed to conserve wildlife; safeguard soils and waterways; protect workers, their families and local communities; and increase livelihoods in order to achieve true, long-term sustainability.

In 2015 our rector, John Currin, went to the coffee growing area as part of a visit to Rwanda.  He took many interesting photographs and produced a book about his visit which can be viewed in the Coffee House.  We are possibly in the unique position of knowing who grows, distributes and roasts our coffee!

Our decaffeinated coffee is a Brazilian Santa Lucia, which is a Red Catuai Arabica variety coffee which is sweet, full-bodied and clean with a good milk chocolate and raisin flavour – with notes of hazelnut and orange. The caffeine is extracted by the Swiss water method. (“You wouldn’t know this was a decaf if it wasn’t on the label!”)
